Focus Area of Intervention IV: WEEKLY OPD CARE FOR SENIOR CITIZENS & THOSE LIVING ALONE

Problem:

  • Elderly and isolated individuals often suffer in silence — untreated illnesses, lack of transport, fear of hospitals, and emotional neglect.

Solution: Weekly “SEHAT SAATHI” OPD Mornings

(A dignity-first health initiative run with compassion)

  • Weekly OPD Morning Clinic (1 day/week) – run with a local doctor/nurse/volunteer
  • Basic health check-ups – BP, sugar, weight, common ailments
  • Emotional check-ins – by trained girls or SHG volunteers
  • Referral support – in case of emergencies or further tests
  • Home visit follow-up – for bedridden or immobile persons

Where do we start our work?

  • Any community space — SHG room, local school, or even a shaded outdoor area
  • Partner – one local (retired senior citizen) MBBS doctor/clinic or retired nurse willing to serve
  • Crafts persons or girls from local NGOs for record-keeping, hospitality, and care
  • Free serving of nimbu paani, glucose, or tea — small expressions of respect and warmth
